Campaign Story
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Diversions International Short Film Festival started in 2014 as the revue of Croatian Short Films Kratki na brzinu. In 2015 revue had its first selector, the official selection and the jury who awarded the best Croatian short films. Simultaneously, revue started to open itself with varied side programs and retrospectives with strong international focus and collaborations. From 2016 parallel international programs were initiated mainly to promote auteur short film cinema, international schools and film festivals, institutions, and organizations who devote their work to various forms of creative expression. Diversions is also a platform which likes to experiment with other art forms and it seeks a way to implement them in the program and show exhibitions, performances and similar events. In 2018, after many successful international collaborations, official selection opened its doors to international films and so Diversions was born.
Festival screened more than 400 films in past five years reaching out to all the continents and more than 130 countries with guests coming from Australia, Austria, China, Czech Republic, Croatia, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, and UK.
Diversions promotes the socially aware values with an accent on human rights and freedoms while reaching out to youngest audiences in the community through targeted screenings and education programs maintained as one of the primary goals.
DISFF is organized by Pučko otvoreno učilište Sveti Ivan Zelina and Sveti Ivan Zelina Tourist Board with City of Sveti Ivan Zelina as Main Patron and Partner.
7th Diversions International Short Film Festival is brought to you by Croatian Audiovisual Centre and Embassy of Portugal in Croatia.
7th Diversions International Short Film Festival will be held from 2. - 5. July 2020 in Sveti Ivan Zelina, Croatia.
This year Festival will be held live in Zelina and online - online screenings will be held through the official Festival website.
WHY CROWDFUNDING?
The ongoing global pandemic had a massive impact on the creative sector. It affected creative production and organisation in Croatia but also around the world. Events were cancelled or postponed. Due to the pandemic, funding of the Festival is limited. As public demand for cultural activities is alive we want to make this Festival better than ever so we need your help to achieve that.
WHERE DOES YOU MONEY GO?
Your money covers the expenses for the outdoors screening and opening ceremony, technical equipment and IT support which is bigger and more demanding as this year's festival has two versions - online and live. With donations you're helping this Festival to shine bright as ever!
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN?
By donating you get a personal satisfaction to help make a Festival, but also a thank you note on festival's online platform credits and a cool DISFF canvas sack!
